Kellogg Community Switches to State Charter, Shortens Name

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The former Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union (KCFCU) became known as Kellogg Community Credit Union (KCCU), effective June 1, in connection with receiving final regulatory approval to change the credit union's federal charter to a state charter.

The $480 million credit union said that by transitioning to a state charter allows it to "expand their reach" in Southwest Michigan. KCCU will now be able to offer financial services in 15 Michigan counties.

Specifically, KCCU said it will expanding into the greater Grand Rapids market, which is located about 80 miles northwest of Battle Creek.

The change, however, to a state charter will not impact member accounts "in any way," KCCU added. All deposits at the credit union will remain insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) for up to $250,000 per account.
