CAMAS, Wash. Lacamas Community CU said this morning its new branch in nearby Andreson will feature customized ATMs from Diebold that feature deposit automation and so-called concierge services that allow members to bypass teller lines while providing more time for credit union staff to help members with more advanced financial service needs.
Within Lacamas Community’s newest concierge-style branch, credit union personnel direct members to appropriate areas to fulfill their financial service needs. At the self-service ATMs, members can complete envelope-free cash and check deposits, as well as traditional cash withdrawals. For more advanced needs, credit union personnel can assist members directly.
“Our open, interactive branch concept allows members to complete convenient transactions on their own, right inside the branch,” said Kathleen Romane, president of the $190 million credit union. “At the same time, our staff will be available to assist with those self-service transactions and to also work one-on-one with members to review their financial goals and complete more advanced transactions.”
“We expect to not only speed up transactions for members, but to also give our staff more time to spend nurturing member relationships,” said Romane.
Lacamas Community first introduced deposit automation to its members in 2012 with three drive-up ATMs installed at already existing branches. The ATMs feature Diebold’s anti-skimming card detectors and are equipped with Europay, MasterCard and Visa EMV card readers, which Lacamas Community can activate in the future without upgrading hardware.
“The open branch environment concept has been proven, and this model will offer Lacamas and its members the best of both worlds,” said Mychal Kempt, vice president, North America operations, Diebold. “Members will enjoy rapid, self-service experiences and more personalized interactions with the credit union. And Lacamas will migrate more routine transactions to the ATM and gain additional opportunities to cross-sell financial services.”
