Mountain America Credit Union, in West Jordan, Utah, and Les Bois Credit Union, in Les Bois, Idaho, will merge effective Jan. 1.

With the two CU's branch networks combined, Mountain America will have a total of 82 branches, making it the fifth largest CU branch network in the country. In a press release the credit union said that small business loans will continue to be its primary focus—the Small Business Administration rates Mountain American as the No. 1 small business lender amongst credit unions in the country.
Christopher Frye, board chair of Les Bois, said in a press release that," it made sense to pursue a merger," due to "industry trends, increasing regulation, and member needs."
