WASHINGTON - They say that good luck often comes in threes, and Cody Heule would certainly agree. A member services representative at Fiserv client Nebraska Energy FCU, Huele won not once, not twice, but three times during CUNA’s recent Governmental Affairs Conference, with her top prize being the 2008 Harley-Davidson XL 1200C SPORTSTER motorcycle raffled at the Fiserv CU7 booth.
“I’d never been to the GAC, but our management allowed us to sign up this year,” said Heule.
More than one person from her department had volunteered, so names were drawn and Cody was chosen, which was win No. 1. She made her first trip to Washington, with her husband, leaving their two young children in the good hands of her mother back in Nebraska.
Once on the trade show floor, the Heules were quickly drawn to the new Fiserv CU7 booth and the Harley on display. They entered the drawing. The Fiserv entry stated that the winner needed to be present for the Tuesday evening drawing, but Heule and her husband had been invited to dinner with her boss and members of the Nebraska Credit Union League. They left the exhibit hall intending to go to dinner, before fate intervened.
“My boss made the light at the corner, and my husband and I were left waiting at the crosswalk,” Heule said. “He looked at me and asked, ‘Do you want to go back for the drawing?’ So we did.”
The Heule’s stopped at a few other booths first, where Cody won a $100 gift card, for win No. 2. With only a few minutes to spare until the Harley drawing, they made their way to the Fiserv booth. When Cody Heule’s name was announced as the winner, she stood in disbelief.
“Neither of us rides, but we sure will learn now,” she said. On the Monday after the GAC (Cody’s birthday), she got a phone call confirming that the Harley will be delivered via a local dealer by month-end. She already has an idea for the license plate: “HERS.”
