CARIBOU, Me. Kenneth Hensler, CEO at The County FCU—where his father served as director long before his hiring—has announced his retirement from the $190 million credit union, the state’s tenth largest.
Hensler, who began his career in financial services with Northern National Bank, was appointed to the board of the one-time credit union for employees of Loring Air Force Base, in 2001, then was named president and CEO in 2003. He was born in St. Louis and moved to Maine when his father who also served on the credit union’s board--was stationed at the now-defunct military base.
Hensler, 62, who built the credit union from $82 million in assets, told the Credit Union Journal this morning he has no specific plans in retirement but to enjoy life at his bucolic riverside camp in northern Maine.
The County FCU serves 55 communities in northern Maine’s Aroostook County and has four branches.
