SPENCER, Iowa – The manager and sole employee of Eaton Employees CU was sentenced last week to five years and three months in prison for stealing $800,000 from the $3 million credit union she ran.

Linda Zech, 53, made out credit union checks and disbursed phony loans to herself, family members and to third parties. Sometimes, Zech would take some of the funds deposited by members and use the money herself.
Zech was also ordered to pay $770,000 in restitution, the amount of the theft she confessed to.
