ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Credit union representatives testified yesterday in the state House on behalf of a new card security bill which would make parties responsible for a data breach pay costs borne by affected parties.

Among those testifying for the bill was Larry Blanchard, chief lobbyist for CUNA Mutual Group, which helped draft the bill that is making its way around various state legislatures.
The Maryland bill is similar to the one passed last year in Minnesota and is being debated in California, Washington, Texas, Wisconsin and several other states.
