ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA Chairman-nominee Deborah Matz is preparing to fill top spots in her administration with two long-time credit union operatives, as Senate confirmation hearings approach on Matz’s nomination.
Matz has asked Steve Bosack, deputy director of the National CU Foundation who was Matz’s administrative aid during her previous tenure on the NCUA Board, to become her top aide again, according to sources familiar with the situation. Bosack has more than 20 years experience in credit unions, working as a reporter for Credit Union Times and as a senior executive in public relations for CUNA, before joining Matz in her first stint at the agency.
And authorities are also doing a background check for Mary Dunn, the long-time regulatory lobbyist for CUNA, to be Matz’s senior policy advisor at NCUA. Dunn has worked with CUNA for about 20 years, and before that at NAFCU, and has interfaced during that time with the top regulatory agencies in the government, including NCUA, the Federal Reserve, Treasury, the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission, during that time.
The Senate Banking Committee has scheduled a confirmation hearing Wednesday for Matz, who served on the NCUA Board from 2001 to 2005.
