The session had been scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, but was cancelled due to inclement weather.

President Obama nominated McWatters in December to fill the third NCUA board seat.

If confirmed, McWatters would succeed Republican Michael Fryzel, whose six-year term on the NCUA board expired last August. McWatters would join Chairman Debbie Matz and Richard Metsger, who are both Democrats.

Committee members will be asking McWatters questions at the hearing, but a vote whether to send his nomination to the full Senate will be held at a later date.

Matz said she would welcome McWatters to the NCUA board if he is confirmed and looks "forward to working with him."

McWatters is assistant dean for graduate programs and an adjunct professor at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

He previously served as counsel to U.S. Representative Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), now chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
