Member Access Illinois To Join Up With CO-OP Network

Member Access Illinois (MAI), an EFT network owned by 251 credit unions here that is the 28th largest in the country, has reached an agreement to become an owner in the CO-OP Network. MAI will bring 315 ATMs spread over 15 states and representing 560,000 cardholders to the CO-OP Network. The Ontario, Calif.-based CO-OP Network includes 12,000 ATMs in 49 states and nine-million cardholders. "One of MAI's prime objectives is to maximize the number of ATMs our credit unions' cardholders may utilize without paying a surcharge," said George Feigle, EVP/COO with the Illinois league's Service Corp. By the end of February 2002, the number of CO-OP ATMs is expected to increase by an additional 800 terminals in Illinois due to an agreement with Access Cash International.
