The Cooperative Credit Union Association announced it will pay out a dues rebate of 7.5% back to its member credit unions for 2016.

CCUA, the trade association serving credit unions in the states of Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, said the rebate falls in line with its strategic objective of “embracing the cooperative model and delivering value” back to its member credit unions.
CCUA members can have a check mailed to them for the rebated amount; or donate their rebate to the “Social Responsibility” cause in their state: (Children’s Miracle Network in Delaware; Coalition for the Homeless in Massachusetts; Make a Wish Foundation in New Hampshire; or Special Olympics in Rhode Island).
Members could also donate the rebate to the “Better Values. Better Banking” campaign for the credit union’s state; or split the rebate between Social Responsibility and “Better Values. Better Banking” efforts in the credit union’s state.
“Our members robustly utilized the association’s offerings in 2016 and helped drive our successful year,” said Association Chairman Bernie Winne, in a statement. “The board unanimously supported this dues rebate as just one more way we return value back to the membership.” Winne is the CEO of Boston Firefighters Credit Union, a $251-million institution based in Dorchester, Mass.
The rebate is of particular significance to credit unions in Delaware – since the Delaware CU League merged with the Association in July 2016.
“This is our first year as part of the [CCUA],” said Jerry King, CEO of DEXSTA Federal Credit Union, a $271-million institution based in Wilmington, Del. “I am most impressed by the relentless focus on advocacy, but seeing firsthand how the association works on providing member value, I am thrilled but not surprised we are delivering this dues rebate to the membership.”
“We’ve built our model around local control of advocacy and giving value back to our members,” said Association President Paul Gentile. “The credit unions in each of our states drive their own advocacy agendas. That local control, combined with a focus on member value, ensures we are operating in the best interest of our members.”
News of the rebate broke just about the same time Del-One Credit Union announced it would be affiliating with the Maryland and DC Credit Union League. The Dover, Del.-based credit union was not affiliated with the Delaware league at the time it merged with CCUA.
