Mendo Lake CU Gets FHLB Grant To Develop Mobile Migrants’ Housing

UKIAH, Calif. – Mendo Lake CU received $92,000 in AHEAD economic development grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco to help build three local projects for the underserved, including a mobile migrant housing pilot.

The FHLB said its $42,000 grant will help fund construction of a six-unit mobile housing unit demonstration model for migrant farmworkers in Santa Rosa. The FHLB also awarded Mendo Lake CU a $25,000 grant to help build a children-at-risk resource center in Ukiah; and a $25,000 grant to provide business development, consumer, and home loans to Indian tribes within a nine-county region of California.

The FHLB also awarded AHEAD grants – for its Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development – of $30,000 to Meriwest CU to develop a second career job training program in Campbell, Calif.
