Merger Creates Big Georgia CU

ATLANTA – Georgia United CU said it completed its merger with State Employees CU over the weekend, creating an $870 million credit union with 16 branches throughout the state.

Georgia United was known until this year as Georgia Federal CU and serves school system and 450+ employee groups across the state, including the University of Georgia’s faculty, staff, students and alumni. State Employees CU is a 50-year-old credit union in downtown Atlanta, whose membership includes all State of Georgia Agency employees and retirees.

“This partnership will unite two of Georgia’s largest and strongest credit unions to allow greater economies of scale and an expanded branch network,” said Warren Butler, president of Georgia United.
