Merger Lets Winston-Salem’s Piedmont Advantage CU Enter Wilmington

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Piedmont Advantage CU will enter nearby Wilmington with the acquisition of East Coast CU, a $9-million credit union with a single branch.

East Coast CU serves 2,500 members throughout six coastal counties of North Carolina. It was chartered in 1955 to serve the Army Corp of Engineers’ Wilmington District employees. The credit union reported a $160,000 loss for the first three quarters of the year.

The $220-million Piedmont Advantage CU was chartered in 1949 to serve to serve Piedmont Aviation and Piedmont Airlines employees.
