Merger Updates

DENVER-A proposed merger between DPS Credit Union and Safeway Rocky Mountain FCU has received approval from state and federal regulators, but must still be approved by SRMFCU members. in June. DPS CU members are not required to vote. Once completed, the combined credit union will become the third largest in Colorado. If approved, the CUs will operate independently with no changes in member services until winter 2005-2006. It will take about one year to fully combine the operations, which will continue to be headquartered in Denver.

DENVER-For the second time, the $16-million Denver Media Credit Union and the $34-million White Crown Credit FCU are attempting to merge. In 2003 the two CUs also attempted a merger, but Denver Media CU fell short of the 67% approval vote needed from members. DMCU President Bart Nyberg said he is confident the merger will be completed this time.
