Mica Takes HLPR On A Radio Tour

CUNA CEO Dan Mica took to the airwaves in a two-part "radio tour" reaching 5 to 10 million radio listeners to spread the word about the "Home Loan Payment Relief" (HLPR) program, a $1-billion initiative aimed at increasing the amount of mortgage credit to first-time home buyers of modest means.

During the radio tour Mica participated in interviews with stations in Raleigh, N.C.; Indianapolis; Boston; New York; Dayton, and Minneapolis. Mica has also recently given interviews to stations in Baltimore, Boston, and "The Jim Bohanon Show" on the Westwood One network (reaching upward of 5 million listeners alone).

Mica emphasized how HLPR works and how it fits with credit unions' desire to serve people of modest means. The HLPR loan makes below-market-rate mortgage loans available to borrowers with household incomes at or below the median in their markets.

Participating CUs are voluntarily bearing the cost so that the loans can be offered at this more affordable rate as part of their commitment to serving people of modest means.
