Michigan League Hosts 1st Youth Summit

The Michigan Credit Union League hosted the first annual Youth Summit at the Michigan Credit Union Center here.

State Rep. John Stewart (R-Plymouth) opened the one-day event with a brief welcome address. Serving the youth market was the focus of the Youth Summit's first breakout session, followed by sessions on services for teen members, youth lending, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension partnering opportunities and the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program (HSFPP).

The event also included a panel discussion on student-run credit unions. Youth Summit attendees were the first to receive the FIC's "Student Credit Union Branch Handbook"-a how-to guide for establishing a school credit union branch. The guide will be placed on the FIC's website at www.fic.mcul.org.
