Minn. CUs Deal Their Own Hand

The Minnesota Credit Union Network is distributing to the Minnesota Legislature and members of the local and national media decks of playing cards featuring the names and pictures of the 2004 Minnesota Legislators.

The Network made four different decks to be able to include every legislator-the decks are divided numerically by district, 1-17 in deck 1, 17-34 in deck 2, 35-51 in deck 3, and 52-67 in deck 4. Governor Tim Pawlenty appears in every deck as the "ace of spades."

All other legislators were placed randomly on the remaining cards throughout the deck. Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau, Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer and Attorney General Mike Hatch are included in deck 4. "We thought this would be fun for our legislators and their families to have," said Minnesota Credit Union Network CEO Kevin Chandler.

"Our elected officials work hard throughout the session and throughout the year-we're glad to be able to give something back. And they can collect all four decks!

"We had a lot of fun trying to decide who would be designated the joker...but we decided to leave that card blank!" Chandler added.

The Network has provided each legislator with the deck that includes his or her district.

Additional decks are being made available for purchase at cost.
