SAN DIEGO - (05/16/06) Mitek Systems said Monday ithas introduced a self-authenticating signature validation productthat will enable users to capture any written signature forverification without the need for a database. Called SignProtect,the software can be used to verify signatures placed on documentsor on electronic devices, like signature pads, PDAs or Tablet PCs,and does not require a proprietary system. The patent-pendingencoding system enables signature information to be inscribed onthe original document, eliminating the need to connect to thesystem to authenticate a signature. The foundation for the systemis based on John H. Harland Co.s self-authenticating checksolution. Separately, Mitek reported a small profit for its fiscalyear second quarter of $25,000, compared to a loss of $798,000 forthe same period last year.
