BOULDER — A robber who left a trail of money from Elevations CU to his getaway car after a Feb. 3 hold-up was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison.
Vincent Dufresne, 44, pleaded guilty in April to robbery in exchange for a prison sentence of between four and eight years.
"He was just driving around, looking for a place to rob," prosecutor Bryan Quiram said Friday. Dufresne said he was tired of not having any money, police said.
Dufresne robbed the credit union branch then rode a bicycle to a waiting pickup truck a quarter-mile away, strewing cash along the way, according to police.
Dufresne’s criminal history includes five previous felony convictions and a pending felony charge in Oregon. He was on parole when he robbed the credit union.
Witnesses saw Dufresne and Russel Tucker, 46, drive away in a gray Dodge pickup truck. The two were tracked down because of a GPS hidden in the bag of cash and arrested after a brief chase on Colo. Highway 66.
Tucker, who met Dufresne in prison, was sentenced to three years in prison.
