More Than 68,000 Kids Now 'Fat Cats'

State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) reported that since it launched its FAT CAT program in November of 2000 for members 12 and under, some 68,151 accounts have been opened. The program is designed to promote the value of saving money at an early age. To continue the educational focus of the FAT CAT program, the credit union recently developed and published FAT CAT's $mart Money booklet.

Designed for elementary and middle school students, FAT CAT's $mart Money booklet contains a wealth of information about credit union history, money management and the various credit union services offered to FAT CAT members and members of all ages. There are quizzes and puzzles throughout the publication to illustrate and highlight the concepts that are covered. This booklet is an entertaining and educational tool and helps parents teach their children about finances.
