Morgan Stepping Down After 38 Years

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After 38 years with the credit union, Larry D. Morgan has retired as president of APCO Employees CU.

During his tenure, the CU from six employees, approximately 3,200 members, one office and $3 million in assets, to 73 employees, more than 61,000 members, 13 offices and $2 billion in assets. In a coincidence, Morgan, who is the CU’s second CEO since it was founded in 1953, followed in the position former manager Louise Herring. But this Louise Herring was not the Louise Herring who was the famous credit union pioneer.

Merrill Mann, a 25-year employee and the vice president for the past 20 years, has been named the new CEO.
