SALT LAKE CITY – Mountain America CU donated holiday gift baskets each day last week to five local families in need.
Recipients were selected from a suggestion pool on the Mountain America Facebook page, during its Week of Giving campaign.
We have always been firm believers in the credit union philosophy of 'People Helping People.' But given the current economy, we felt that some families could use a little extra help this year, said Sharon Cook, Mountain America's senior vice president of marketing and public relations.
Mountain America reached out to its Facebook fans and asked them to share the story of a person or family in need of financial support this holiday season. Stories range from single mothers supporting their family by working multiple jobs, to families who have lost their job due to the tough economy or from unexpected illness.
