Mutual Benefit CU, HAMBUCO Change To AurGroup Financial

Mutual Benefit Credit Union and HAMBUCO Credit Union, which merged this Spring, have chosen a new name: AurGroup Financial Credit Union. Pronounced "Our Group," the $130-million credit union said the name was chosen after retaining a marketing communications firm to oversee the process and conduct a member survey.

According to AurGroup Financial, "AurGroup is an alternative way to look at the newly combined entity. The 'Au' spelling reflects the element Gold from the periodic table, which goes hand-in-hand with the financial aspect of the business. The word Group in the name also implies unity and distinguishes the credit union difference in the financial industry. The word Financial was added to the name to better reflect the future commitment of AFCU to becoming its members' full-service financial institution."

Along with a name, the credit union also now has a new logo. "The logo design has two parts: Gold lettering chosen to enhance the derivative of Aurum, or gold, in their name; and a blue dot with sweeping curve used to illustrate the image of a person, or entity, embracing the group," the credit union said.
