National CU Foundation Fields Record Requests For Funding

The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) reported that during the fourth quarter it fielded more requests than ever before for funding.

The NCUF entered December with more than $800,000 available for grants, and credit unions, CUSOs, associations and other foundations filed 54 applications seeking what would be a record total for grants from the NCUF, $3 million.

"The National Credit Union Foundation is well positioned to assist credit unions in their efforts to invest in their members and their communities," said NCUF Executive Director Steve Delfin in a statement. "And credit unions have stepped up with some very creative programs to serve people of modest means."

The foundation said it underwrites programs designed to achieve any of four objectives: Consumer access to credit unions; financial education; savings and/or asset accumulation, and small credit union development. For info:
