The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) reported that during the fourth quarter it fielded more requests than ever before for funding.
The NCUF entered December with more than $800,000 available for grants, and credit unions, CUSOs, associations and other foundations filed 54 applications seeking what would be a record total for grants from the NCUF, $3 million.
"The National Credit Union Foundation is well positioned to assist credit unions in their efforts to invest in their members and their communities," said NCUF Executive Director Steve Delfin in a statement. "And credit unions have stepped up with some very creative programs to serve people of modest means."
The foundation said it underwrites programs designed to achieve any of four objectives: Consumer access to credit unions; financial education; savings and/or asset accumulation, and small credit union development. For info: www.ncuf.coop.
