VIENNA, Va. Navy FCU on Monday opened a branch inside a Safeway store in Germantown, Md., and may expand its grocery store presence.

"We were presented with this opportunity and knew it would provide added conveniences to our roughly 20,000 members in the Germantown area," said Debbie Stamey, Navy Federal's vice president of branch operations. "How much the addition of the new in-store branch helps them will drive the number of additional Safeway branches we add in the future."
Navy Federal has close to 60 branches in the Washington area.
