PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Navy FCU closed yesterday on its $3.6 million purchase of 240 acres adjacent to its 65-acre call center, clearing the way to add 700 new jobs and invest $6.5 million into the huge operation over the next several years.
The call center, the world’s largest credit union facility, already employs 2,500 workers.
“The greater Pensacola area continues to impress us with a high-caliber workforce that is reflected in our 2,500 team members located in Pensacola,” said Cutler Dawson, president of the $50 billion credit union. “We look forward to our continued growth in Florida.”
Gov. Rick Scott said Navy Federal’s expansion plan is “great news” for Florida and Pensacola. “This announcement is further evidence that Florida’s business climate encourages companies to grow and expand and add jobs in our state,” he said.
The deal between Navy Federal and the foundation that oversees the 4-H center included a $680,000 grant from the state, in its efforts to encourage job creation.
Yesterday’s announcement came two days after the credit union giant announced plans to expand its Winchester, Va., operations center, where it plans to add 400 new jobs too.
