Navy Fed Lands Inside The Pentagon

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Navy FCU said this morning it will open its 206th branch on Monday, its first inside the Pentagon, headquarters for the U.S. Department of Defense.

The new branch will serve 24,000 military and civilian employees and 3,000 non-defense support employees at the Pentagon, reflecting the one-time all-Navy credit union’s expansion to cover the entire DoD. Since expanding its field of membership in 2008 to all branches of the military, Navy Fed has added 149,000 members. In October 2010, a record 6,659 new Army, Air Force and Department of Defense civilian members joined the credit union.

The 2,155 square foot branch is located on the security-enforced Pentagon’s second floor, and is the $44 billion credit union’s 32nd service facility in the Washington, D.C., metro area.

Navy Fed was recently approved to acquire USA FCU and the San Diego-based navy credit union’s 19 branches, including 11 overseas and eight in southern California.
