DAYTON, Ohio - (12/09/05) -- NCR, the world's biggestmanufacturer of financial self-service machines, announced Thursdayit has signed with Pay By Touch to introduce biometric fingerprinttechnology to its customers. NCR plans to introduce the Pay ByTouch fingerprint scanner first through its Advanced Checkoutsystem and FastLane self-checkout system, used by thousands ofsupermarkets. The fingerprint systems will be rolled out atselected grocery stores in the Midwest. Pay By Touch will also usean NCR self-service kiosk to enable shoppers to scan theirfingerprints into the identification system. Pay By Touch'sfingerprint payments systems are already being substituted forcards systems in supermarkets in the northwest and the Carolinas.The NCR deal comes just a week after San Francisco-based Pay ByTouch announced three acquisitions, including that of CardSystemsSolutions, the troubled cards processor. Pay By Touch also agreedto buy BioPay, a company that enables merchants to authenticatechecks by fingerprint technology.
