ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA reported Friday it approved two new credit union charters last month, making a total of three new credit unions making their debut.
The federal regulator said it approved deposit insurance for NCI Community Development CU, a low-income credit union approved by state regulators sponsored by the Neighborhood Centers Inc., to serve the mostly Hispanic southwestern portion of Houston.
NCUA also approved deposit insurance for Mid East Tennessee Community CU, approved by state regulators to serve low-income pockets of Decatur, Tenn.
The announcement came a week after NCUA approved a federal charter for REALTORs FCU, which will serve more than 1.2 million members of the National REALTORs Association.
