ALEXANDRIA, Va. NCUA has awarded 126 low-income credit unions some $871,597 in total grants as part of the 2013 Community Development Revolving Loan Fund.
The funds, administered by the agency’s Office of Small Credit Unions, are to allow low-income credit unions to expand services, offer new loan products and provide educational opportunities to members. Some 231 credit unions submitted grant proposals. NCUA said it awarded 142 grants (CUs can receive more than one grant).
The move comes about a year after rising delinquency levels prompted SBA to raise lender fees and tightened underwriting standards in its flagship 7(a) program.
