NCUA Clears More Big Mergers

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA on Friday reported it approved the combination of $1.3 billion Apple FCU in Fairfax, Va., with Synergy One FCU, an ailing $185 million credit union in nearby Manassas, Va.

The credit union regulator approved the merger of $1.7 billion Texas Dow Employees CU with $82 million Bluebonnet FCU, the Lake Jackson, Texas, giant’s second Houston acquisition over the past few months, including a deal for $60 million San Jacinto CU in Pasadena.

NCUA also approved mergers of: $690 million Franklin Mint FCU with $21 million Sentry FCU; $91 million Market USA FCU with $7 million National Capital FCU, both in Maryland; and $140 million General Electric Employees FCU, in Milford, Conn., with $20 million Bridgeport Fire Department Employees FCU.
