NCUA issues December prohibitions

The National Credit Union Administration on Monday issued two prohibitions for December, banning a pair of individuals from being involved in the affairs of any federally insured financial institution.

Soundra M. Lopez, a former employee of the now inactive County & Municipal Employees Credit Union of Edinburg, Texas, agreed and consented to the issuance of a prohibition order from the NCUA. As a result, she agreed to comply with its terms in order to settle and resolve claims made against her by the NCUA board. Those claims were not made public.

In addition, NCUA issued a prohibition notice against Latrese Williams, a former employee of the now inactive Northwest Baptist Federal Credit Union of Seattle, Wash., who pleaded guilty to the charge of theft. Williams was sentenced to four months in prison, three years’ supervised release, and was ordered to pay $460,485.65 in restitution.

Prohibition notices are used for those who have been convicted of a crime of dishonesty, such as theft or embezzlement, while prohibition orders are issued when NCUA exercises its own authority to ban a person.
