LENEXA, Kan. NCUA closed on the sale of the former headquarters of U.S. Central FCU, months after winding down the operations of the one-time $52 billion central bank for credit unions.
The 129,321-square-foot building at 9701 Renner Blvd. in this Kansas City suburb was sold to Kiewit Power Constructors. The company, which operates construction, mining and engineering businesses in three countries, is expected to take physical occupancy. It currently operates from Renner Corporate Center I at 9401 Renner Blvd.
The agency, which maintains secrecy over the details of the corporate resolution, confirmed the March 25 transaction, but refused to disclose any of the details, including the sale price. Proceeds from the sale are expected to go towards repayment of the corporate credit union bailout.
U.S. Central, which was taken over by NCUA in March 2009 and liquidated over the following two years, moved into the newly constructed headquarters in 2002 and occupied about 90,000 square feet with 250 employees.
