NCUA: Site Overhaul Means More Info Available

NCUA has redesigned its website following suggestions and comments from credit unions, onsite testing, input from internal and external users and historical tracking results. The agency said that much more information is now available for retrieval directly from the NCUA Home Page at www.ncua.gov, simplifying access and enhancing the ease of navigation. The new design adopts a uniform style. Navigation panels across the top and down the left side occur on nearly every page.

"These navigational improvements will enable users to expedite movement throughout the website," the agency said. "Plus, the newly integrated AltaVista search engine, which remains visible on every page, enables users to execute complex searches with ease."

The five major items appearing across the top panel-Share Insurance, Resources for Credit Unions, Resources for Consumers, News and Search-provide users with the option to locate information based on a broad category of interest. Content is centralized, listed in the left column in five major groups-NCUA, Initiatives, Data and Services, Resources and General Information.

Internet users can find links to the latest data from all federally insured credit unions, Letters to Credit Unions, regulations and legal opinion letters on the redesigned NCUA Home Page. The new site map is alphabetized and extensive cross-referencing enables popular items to be easily found and linked from several locations.
