WILMINGTON, Del. – The Delaware Community Reinvestment Act is opening a new credit union, Stepping Stones FCU, on the city’s East Side today.
Rep. John Carney plans to be among the first Stepping Stones members to open an account. He will be in attendance with the rest of the state’s congressional delegation, including Sen. Tom Carper and Sen. Chris Coons.
Membership in the new community development credit union is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, goes to school or is interested in alleviating poverty in Wilmington.
The CDCU plans to offer multiple savings accounts, including regular shares, club accounts and share certificates. It also plans to offer a variety of personal loans, including signature, used auto, and share-secured loans, within the first 12 months of operation. Planned future services include share drafts and travelers checks.
