HACKENSACK, N.J. – First Bergen FCU, the first new credit union in New Jersey in more than a decade, will open for business Monday.
The credit union, which received low-income designation from NCUA, was organized by the non-profit Bergen County Community Action Partnership Inc., which raised $140,000 for the project.
Initially, First Bergen will offer savings accounts and holiday and vacation club accounts and will soon offer small loans, up to $5,000. By 2012, it expects to offer ATM services, debit and credit cards, wire transfers and small-business loans.
