BURLINGTON, N.C. – Proponent FCU, chartered to serve employees of Hoffman-LaRoche’s New Jersey headquarters, has opened a 16,000 square-foot branch and administrative offices to serve the pharmaceutical giant’s employees here.
The three-story project is built to be environmentally friendly and will be used as a gathering place for community organizations, whether they are members of the $430 million credit union.
The building is lit mostly by natural sunlight from a northwestern wall of windows and smaller sections of windows on the southern side. A computer controls timers and lights that cut on in the morning and off in the evenings after business hours.
The lobby has a coffee bar and flat-screen TVs with tellers tucked into a back corner nook. The walls are light green and beige and large conference rooms can hold up to 50 seated guests.
The building has bicycle racks, showers and some other amenities for employees who want to cycle to work or exercise on breaks.
