PHOENIX - (09/12/03) -- Hypercom Corp. said this week thatits ICE 5500Plus and ICE 6000Plus terminals will incorporateantennae and readers so they can accept transactions initiated withMasterCard International's PayPass radio-frequency contactlesstechnology. MasterCard is testing PayPass in Orlando,Fla. MasterCard earlier this year launched the PayPass pilot inwhich Citibank, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and MBNA Corp. areissuing credit cards containing PayPass RF transceivers. Chevrongas stations and Loew's theaters are among the merchantsparticipating in the test, which was extended until at least theend of September.
