New Remote Solution Seen As Differentiator

DALLAS-With credit unions more than ever looking for ways to differentiate themselves from banks, Southwest Corporate said its new remote deposit solution is proving to be one such differentiator that credit unions can play up.

Brad Ganey, Southwest Corporate's vice president of item processing, demonstrated how credit union members can deposit checks "whenever, wherever" by using the corporate's existing home banking interface. The only things needed, he explained, are an Internet connection and a scanner.

"There is a challenge for credit unions today to retain members that move," said Ganey. "With remote deposit, they can do so. We are very excited about this product, because members no longer have to drive to credit union branches to deposit a check. For other members, it frees up teller lines."

Southwest Corporate is in the process of having its remote deposit solution certified by home banking vendors. It expects to be live in November or December.
