New York City Man Charged In $60,000 ID Scam At Suffolk County FCU

EASTPORT, N.Y. – A New York City man was accused of attempting to scam Suffolk County FCU of $60,000 after opening a line of credit using phony identities.

Police say Willie Petteway withdrew $20,000 on Aug. 27 from the credit union’s West Babylon branch. He then unsuccessful tried to do the same thing on Sept. 5 at the Medford branch.

Petteway was charged with grand larceny, possession of a forged instrument, attempted identity theft and other charges.
