The merger further strengthens the Ukrainian-American Credit Union movement in New York state, the two said, adding the collective efforts of both credit unions will result in greater efficiencies and enhanced products and services. Ukrainian FCU said it will leverage the reputation UHD FCU has established in Buffalo.

The $152-million Ukrainian FCU has six branches, in Rochester, Albany, and Syracuse, N.Y., Sacramento, Calif., Boston, Mass., and Portland, Ore.

The merger is effective as of January, and will be completed by the end of March.
