CHICAGO – Polish & Slavic FCU said it has signed almost 9,000 new members and added more than $100 million in deposits after expanding three years ago to the Windy City from its Brooklyn, N.Y., base.
The $1.5 billion credit union three area branches have also generated $72 million in new personal and mortgage loans during that time.
“With the changing dynamics of the Polish population in the US, we needed to start expanding to new markets and Chicago was an obvious choice," said Marzena Wierzbowska, chairperson of the Polish & Slavic board of directors. Of the credit union's 15 branches, all but the three Chicago locations are located in New York or New Jersey.
