Northwest Credit Unions Now Can 'Online Date'

SEATAC, Wash., and TIGARD, Ore. — The Northwest Credit Union Association on Tuesday said it has unveiled a "new online dating website" for its CUs.

Really, the NWCUA said it collaborated with gira{ph} creative, a design agency specializing in credit union marketing, to create a new website that is "dramatically more intuitive and responsive."

The goal — as with Match.com, OKCupid and all their brethren — is to make matches. But instead of hooking up two people who both like Sandra Bullock movies and long walks at sunset, the CU Matchup site is designed to allow the league's member credit unions that want to solve a specific problem to find the league's Strategic Link business partners that have a solution.

"The result is a website that is visually pleasing, easy to navigate and allows relationships to be forged with a click of a mouse," the NWCUA said in a statement.

The NWCUA said CU Matchup asks credit unions to answer a few short questions, then the tool generates partner recommendations to fit the credit union's specific needs.

"Through the new Strategic Link website, we are committed to provide our members and business partners with innovative solutions such as CU Matchup," said Denise Gabel, NWCUA's chief operating officer. "Now our member credit unions have easy access to the turnkey business solutions offered by our partners, and a greater menu of consulting services to address their needs."

Gabel said league members have more than 20 strategic partnerships at their fingertips, providing assistance in card services, consulting, human resources, insurance, lending, mobile banking, emerging financial technologies and more.

Other entities have used the online dating analogy, including sites that introduce consumers to credit unions they are eligible to join, such as Credit Union Match, CUNA's A Smarter Choice and CULookup, which is affiliated with NAFCU.

The NWCUA serves more than 160 credit unions in Oregon and Washington, and their 4.9 million members.
