Northwest FCU Awards $90,000 In Scholarships

HERNDON, Va. – Northwest FCU said its non-profit foundation granted 21 students $90,000 through two scholarship programs.

The Ben DeFelice Scholarship, established in 2005 to pay tribute to NWFCU’s longest serving chairman of the board, awards $5,000 to students who display leadership, commitment and dedication in their homes, schools and communities. Fifteen students around the nation were selected as the recipients of the Ben DeFelice scholarship, displaying leadership skills that ranged from founding a volunteer organization to starting a business to volunteering as a firefighter.

The NWFCU Foundation also awarded six $2,500 CIRA scholarships, sponsored by the Central Intelligence Retirees Association.
