PORTLAND, Ore. – OnPoint Community CU awarded 11 Portland area residents $250 each for sharing innovative money saving tips during its Money Matters campaign on local KGW-TV.
Tips from a college student who pays off his credit card monthly; a couple that set aside monthly mortgage for a year before buying their house; and a contestant who puts her pay raise straight into savings were among the top winners.
More than 80 suggestions were received, with 11 winners chosen to receive $250 each to be deposited into an OnPoint savings account.
In addition to the contest, six original :60 Public Service Announcements were produced and ran on KGW-TV to educate people on buying a house, buying a car, paying off credit cards, saving and paying off debt, raising your credit score and investing and growing savings.
