RONKONKOMA, N.Y. -
The CU has planned an open-enrollment night at its newer Ronkonkoma office this week on Oct. 18.
As an incentive to join that very night, People's Alliance FCU is giving anyone who opens a savings account with a minimum balance of $50 a chance to win a television/DVD player. Existing members will also have a chance to win for each member referred at open-enrollment night who opens a savings account with a minimum balance of $50.
The Hauppauge, N.Y.-headquarted CU has branches in this market, along with New York branches in Westbury, Jamaica, Brooklyn and Yonkers, and one branch in Miami. The open enrollment is taking place at the Ronkonkoma branch as a way of letting potential members know that new branch exists.
"This is the first time we are doing this," said spokesperson Lisa Mitnick. "If it's successful we plan on doing it at our other locations. This is a fairly new branch. We wanted to direct more attention to the branch."
The credit union marketed the event through a direct mail piece, a statement stuffer to its members, a press release, a paid advertisement in the local newspaper, a flier posted in select employee groups, the Chamber's website, and by literature given out Chamber meetings.
The $194-million CU had 44,466 members as of June 30.
