CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As the 2009 football season prepares to kick off, another credit union has signed an NFL player to be its spokesperson. Charlotte Metro Credit Union will use Carolina Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme in a series of three commercials in which he will pass along financial tips on rates and fees.
Delhomme has opened an account with the credit union, CMCU reported. The quarterback should be able to afford the minimum opening deposit, having just signed a five-year deal that could be worth up to $42 million.
Using a professional athlete as spokesperson is nothing new for Charlotte Metro, which in the past has featured former Bobcats player Jared Dudley and Coach Sam Vincent in commercials.
In Braintree, Mass., Liberty Bay Credit Union recently signed New England Patriots’ wide receiver Wes Welker as its new spokesperson.
