NEW YORK – New Jersey-based Paragon FCU yesterday announced a pilot program in conjunction with Lower East Side People’s FCU to test self-service kiosk in communities with high underserved or unbanked populations.
The new self-service kiosks, offered by Paragon’s Tellagent LLC CUSO, are designed to meet the specific needs of unbanked customers by offering services such as check cashing, bill payment and foreign remittances, allowing credit unions to offer these services at lower costs.
Plans call for Tellagent to deploy the special kiosks at a number of community development credit unions in New York City, with Lower East Side People’s as the first one.
The pilot is being conducted through the National Federation of CDCUs, which Paragon FCU recently joined as a community development partner.
