FAIRFAX CITY, Va. – Norman Rappaport, a well-known figure in the credit union movement who served as a volunteer at Pentagon FCU for 30 years, passed away last week at 82. The cause was congestive heart failure.
Rappaport joined the credit union's board in 1974 and served as secretary for several years and then as vice chairman for 21 years. He also served as chairman of the marketing committee, vice chairman of the financial management committee and chairman of the planning committee for more than 15 years.
At the time of his death, Rappaport was working on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the credit union movement in the United States.
